Fun Ski Drills: Crazy8s

Crazy 8s are a really fun way to activate your feet, ankles, and legs under a stable upper body. You'll feel that a strong core will help you as you roll to the outside edges of both your skis and let your skis track apart. As both skis move away from each other, you can feel them go flat on the bases and then on to both inside edges. This will engage the side-cut and your skis will trackback together so that you can repeat. Sometimes you can look back at your tracks to see if you've carved 8s in the snow. This drill will really help you get fluid with your motion starting right down at the snow with your feet and ankles working up, and it will help give you that good, stable core.
